BG Custom Homes Limited is a fresh name for an established company. Founder Brad Goodsell has worked in Halifax's construction scene since the mid 2000's. Being from a construction family in rural Quebec, design and construction are in his DNA. After completing a B.A at Mount Allison University, his business was started in Halifax with little more than a good attitude, a passion for the craft, word of mouth and repeat customers which is also how he landed a Halifax Citizen Award for Best Contractor. Each passing year the size and scale of the projects would grow slightly and the operation expanded to meet the demand.
Brad Goodsell Design | Build Incorporated in 2016 and this was also the year Brad completed his Executive Certificate in Construction Leadership at Dalhousie University. January of 2023, The Company Officially Changed its name from Brad Goodsell Design | Build Inc. to BG Custom Homes Limited.
With this soft re-brand also came a new partnership with Brad's MTA classmate, friend and Highly trusted longstanding business associate, Billy Reyno who joined the company as a partner/owner and the General Manager.
The company is currently headquartered at 3667 Strawberry Hill Street, Suite # 107 Halifax, NS B3k 5A8 with a secondary location at 3630 Strawberry Hill.

Since we have adopted lean and kaizen methodologies, there have been well over a thousand meaningful improvements (small medium and large) that have resulted in our work becoming better, faster, safer and more enjoyable across all company positions.
Excellent work correlates with a clean organized work space and vice versa. Our company prides itself on sustaining high-level organization standards as this is critical to sustain an efficient workflow.
There are volume or production builders that will sub out nearly 100% of the work. There are some companies that attempt to do everything in house. And then there is BG Custom Homes. Our format is based on doing what is best for the project.
We assign a project manager and lead carpenters to every project, and these team members are stakeholders from the very beginning. We use additional carpentry support teams as required to supplement the general trade work and to suit the labour demands and phase of each project. A custom project will always have bespoke details that need precise carpentry attention, and there are some construction events that that can sometimes require all hands on deck. This is a notable point of difference about our company.
We believe this approach offers a balance of efficiency, speed, continuity and quality. Most importantly, it means that your home is built with heart, soul and pride by at least a few key people who are there for the entire journey and who will take great care and pride signing their name on your home when it is complete.

Canadas's Occupational Health and Safety Act
states that every owner shall take every precaution that is reasonable in the circumstances to provide and maintain the owners land or premises being or to be used as a workplace' (12.19.A)
It goes on that state
that land owners shall 'take necessary steps to identify eliminate and control hazards to the health and safety at the workplace.' (12.19.B.ii)
It is important that to note that land and construction company owners must ensure that the workplace is operating in a manner that is in compliance with the act and regulations (12.19.A.ii)
Our Certificate of Recognition (COR) safety program is designed to shoulder this responsibility as it insulates our clients from liability and keeps our people safe.
In the name of doing things properly, we work with a third-party safety firm to continuously improve our safety program. In the name of doing things efficiently, we have digitized and streamlined our program via a cloud-based app software so it's easy and effective.
We offer two types of contracts: fixed price and cost plus. Cost-plus offers a fully transparent open-book format. This open-book transparency is made possible in real time via a software called Co-Construct. Fixed price means a locked scope, closed book format and clear milestone payments.
For either type of project our clients can track and monitor the progress via their client portal where they will have access to ALL project progress photos and other essential information. This information will be available to them in perpetuity on Co-Construct for future reference. This resource can be especially helpful for future renovations.
CoConstruct is a fantastic software, however there is an associated learning curve. Our team has received formal, in-person training at the CoConstruct US headquarters and has successfully used this software for 7+ years.
